Student Engagement Officer – Secondary School

Location: Caerphilly, South Wales
Pay: £100 per day via PAYEE with weekly pay
Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm
Start: 7th of September 2026

With the summer term approaching, this is an excellent opportunity to join a secondary school environment and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people.

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a Student Engagement Officer to work within a Caerphilly secondary school. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and are looking to gain valuable experience within education.

The role also offers clear progression opportunities, including the chance to lead classes and deliver pre-planned lessons. This provides an excellent platform for developing classroom management skills, building confidence, and gaining greater responsibility within a school setting.

The Role

As a Student Engagement Officer, you will support pupils who may require additional guidance, encouragement, or consistency throughout the school day. This may include students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), social and emotional needs, or those who benefit from positive role models and structured support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support both inside and outside the classroom
  • Supporting pupils with behaviour management, emotional regulation, and confidence building
  • Encouraging engagement with learning and maintaining positive routines
  • Developing strong, professional relationships with students to help them feel supported and motivated
  • Supervising and delivering pre-set lessons, ensuring pupils remain focused, engaged, and on task
  • Promoting a positive learning environment while maintaining high expectations of behaviour

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates who have experience working with young people through areas such as:

  • Sports coaching or leadership
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Care and support work
  • Tutoring or classroom support
  • Volunteering, activity camps, or community-based programmes

Requirements

Teaching Personnel will support successful applicants in obtaining the necessary clearances and registrations where required.

Applicants must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, EWC registration
  • Complete Level 2 Safeguarding Training during onboarding
  • Provide two professional references covering the previous 24 months
