Our 2-year salaried teacher training programme gives you the opportunity to work in a secondary school, earn a salary and develop your teaching skills while working towards becoming a qualified teacher.

This is a good option for recent graduates and those looking to change career and move into education.

Year 1 – Cover Supervisor

During your first year, you will work full-time in a secondary school in Nottingham as a Cover Supervisor.

Your role will include:

Delivering pre-prepared lessons
Managing whole-class learning
Supporting behaviour management and pastoral care
Working alongside experienced teachers
Observing lessons and developing your understanding of effective teaching
Taking part in regular training and professional development
Building your confidence and experience in a school environment

The first year is designed to help you develop your classroom confidence and understand what it is like to work in a secondary school before moving into formal teacher training.

Year 2 – PGCE and QTS Teacher Training

In your second year, you will begin formal teacher training through a partner university while continuing to work in a school.

You will:

  • Work towards a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Continue gaining practical classroom experience
  • Receive regular mentoring and support
  • Develop your teaching practice and professional skills
  • Take on more teaching responsibility as you progress

Salary of £22,000–£25,000 per year throughout the programme

No tuition fees

Who We're Looking For:

You should:

  • Hold a UK bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Have a genuine interest in education and working with young people
  • Have good communication and organisational skills
  • Be committed to developing a career in teaching
  • Be reliable, motivated and willing to learn
  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

You do not need to have previous teaching experience. The programme is suitable for both recent graduates and career changers.
