  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams

  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Additional Learning Needs

  • Help identify and reduce barriers to learning

Every day will be different, and you'll have the opportunity to see the direct impact your support can have on young people's wellbeing, confidence and progress.

This role provides practical experience across areas highly relevant to psychology and other helping professions, including: Child and adolescent development, Behaviour and emotional regulation, Mental health and wellbeing, Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN), Trauma-informed approaches

The experience you gain can be particularly valuable if you're considering future careers as a: Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Counsellor or Psychotherapist, Youth Worker, Education or Behaviour Specialist

  • A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills

  • Calm and resilient when dealing with challenging situations

  • Adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team

Previous experience working with children or young people is beneficial but not essential. Training, guidance and ongoing support will be provided.

To work in schools, you'll need to meet the relevant compliance requirements, including:

  • Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

  • Two recent professional or academic references

  • An up-to-date CV
