Smile Education are currently recruiting for a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming secondary school in the Cannock area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to build valuable experience within secondary education. The role is ideal for an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, aspiring teacher or someone with previous experience supporting children and young people.
The school provides a supportive environment where positive behaviour, high expectations and strong relationships help students thrive. You'll play an important role in ensuring learning continues smoothly during teacher absences while becoming part of a welcoming school community.
The RoleAs a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, deliver pre-planned lessons and help create a calm, purposeful learning environment. There may also be opportunities to support pastoral initiatives and promote positive behaviour across the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise lessons using pre-prepared work.
- Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Support students to stay engaged and complete the work set.
- Manage behaviour in line with school policies.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons.
- Build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Support the wider school community where required.
We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or similar role is desirable.
- Confident classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work across different subjects and year groups.
- A flexible, reliable and proactive approach.
- A genuine passion for supporting students' learning and wellbeing.
