About the Role

Are you a confident, organised, and dedicated Cover Supervisor looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a committed Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you'll play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring students remain engaged with their learning in the absence of their regular teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education who enjoys working with young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with students across a range of abilities, adapting support to meet individual learning needs where required.
  • Maintain a calm, positive, and purposeful classroom environment that encourages students to participate in their learning.
  • Manage student behaviour effectively, following the school's behaviour policies and procedures.
  • Encourage students to develop positive attitudes towards learning, confidence, independence, and respect for others.
  • Provide feedback to teachers regarding students' engagement, behaviour, progress, and completion of work.
  • Support students with literacy, numeracy, and other areas of their learning where appropriate.
  • Ensure students have access to the correct lesson materials, resources, and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and the wider school team.
  • Support students during break times, lunchtimes, school activities, trips, and other wider school initiatives where required.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, preparation, and other duties that contribute to an effective learning environment.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents or concerns and seek support from relevant staff where necessary.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for supporting students' learning, development, and wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive and respectful relationships with students.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • The confidence to supervise classes and deliver pre-prepared learning activities independently.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A calm, patient, proactive, and adaptable approach.
  • The ability to remain professional and composed when working under pressure.
  • A commitment to inclusion and ensuring all students have the opportunity to engage positively with their learning.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
